I would like to share my association and experience as a volunteer reader for Samarthanam Trust. Year 2020 changed the lives of most of us during the pandemic and so did mine, but in a positive way. Due to COVID, I had to discontinue my volunteering work at other organizations and my interest in reading books for the visually challenged received an opportunity. I read about Samarthanam’s commitment, dedication and the digital library initiative aligned with my interests. Since September 2020, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and recording 25 books on various subjects. I would like to say that it has been a pleasure communicating with Dr. Mahantesh GK, CEO of Samarthanam and working with the entire team. A few family and friends joined Samarthanam as volunteer readers from different parts of the world. I look forward to continuing this journey in future.

I volunteered at Samarthanam Trust, a Non-For-Profit organization, which greatly helped me improve my skills while handling various assignments. My tasks assigned by the supervisor inculcated a feeling of responsibility and content, as my work, along with helping me learn, would also help the society. I am grateful that I was able to play an active role while helping the students during the pandemic. I consider it as an important part of my learning. And thanks to my Supervisor for the guidance. It has been an exciting and rejuvenating experience and my sincere appreciation to the organization for carrying out an effective COVID campaign during difficult times.

I had the opportunity to intern with Samarthanam, the second time. Samarthanam has always been a place I look up to. I always had the opportunity to learn something new every day. It was a new experience, being a part of a non-profit organization and working for a good cause. I assisted a few experienced people at the Trust and learnt a lot on the way. The work environment is inclusive, sociable, and friendly. I was able to interact, learn, and in the end share my perspective, which was greatly encouraged. I appreciate the work being carried out by the NGO for the people and I am glad that I have been a part of it, though for a short time.
